PBISPositive Behavior Intervention and Supports or PBIS is a proactive approach to student discipline. PBIS helps create a safe learning environment where students are able to learn and teachers and able to teach. PBIS is meant to recognize the positive behaviors of all students, acknowledge and reinforce the students for exhibiting the appropriate behaviors, and provide support to those students who need extra guidance meeting school wide expectations.
The Richardson ROARAll students are expected to follow the Richardson ROAR:
I am a Richardson Tiger. Hear me ROAR! I am... Respectful On Target Always Safe Responsible Classroom Behavior ManagementAll classrooms at Richardson Elementary use the same behavior system. Students begin their day on Ready to Learn. They can advance to Awesome Tiger and OUTSTANDING Royal Tiger for doing great things. If discipline infractions occur, they can be moved to Caution, Loss of Privilege, Do "Think About It" Activity and Conductw Report. Your child should be able to tell you what behaviors are expected at each level.
Warm Fuzzies!!!In addition to the school wide classroom behavior management plan, all of the fourth grade teachers use Warm Fuzzies. Students can earn plain or sparkly Warm Fuzzies (5 plain fuzzies = 1 sparkly fuzzy) for a variety of reasons. For example, they might earn a Fuzzy for a good test/homework grade, doing a good deed, doing w work, getting a compliment from another teacher and so on. Students can lose Fuzzies for a variety of reasons as well. For example, they might lose a Fuzzy for forgetting to write their name on their paper, not having supplies ready by the time the bell rings, leaving a mess, interrupting a teacher etc.
Each student is provided a Fuzzy container. Students are NOT to touch/count their Fuzzies until Friday (messing with Fuzzies will result in them being taken away). On Fridays students can trade in their Fuzzies for fabulous prizes including items like pencils, pencil grips, stickers, special passes, candy, etc. 4th Grade ScheduleMonday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
